Abstract

In Malaysia, social workers play a crucial role in managing issues related to homelessness. Their presence is vital in delivering various services and efforts to empower this vulnerable group. This concept paper aims to discuss the roles and challenges faced by social workers in providing practices and services to the homeless community. Furthermore, it also proposes strategies to address the challenges encountered by social workers in their efforts to empower this marginalised group. The entire paper, validated by a review of past studies from both local and international contexts, is based on a review of past studies from both local and international experiences. It is hoped that this paper will be beneficial to social workers, counsellors, enforcement officers, rehabilitation officers, and other stakeholders in enhancing the services provided to marginalised communities.
