Abstract

Oncology Social Work is vital in healthcare services. A healthcare facility equipped with oncology social work services provides trained oncology social workers with specialised skills in managing cancer patients. As a result, it can provide better services to cancer patients. This paper systematically reviews past literature and studies concerning oncology social work services in the international and local arena, aiming to forecast the need for oncology services at government health facilities in Malaysia. The source of the article search was obtained online from the Google Scholar and Web of Science (WOS) databases, and the collected data were analysed thematically. The systematic review found that oncology social work services are necessary for cancer patients and their families, healthcare institutions and agencies, communities, and medical-related professions.
